im getting a tubular turbo manifold with sr and he told me to put the stock one back on because everyone he knows that has a tubular one, all the welds break eventually all the time over and over again. has anyone else heard of this because if this is true im gonna want to switch back to stock.

they will break, as to how long I coudln't tell you I've had mine for bout 6 mos, Noah has had his for going on 2 years now with no problems. Other people have them break in a week.

It's all luck of the draw I guess

did you guys do any custom fabricating? or did you guys just drop it in and let it work. do you feel a power increase with it and if so do you know how much?

both of us stuck it on with an upgraded turbo so I dunno

I cut my flange up into 4 pipes, he didn't. I don't think it makes much difference.

All the tubular manifols I have seen will crack, it does'nt do the manifold any good if you pressure wash it right after it's been hot. There's a reason that they use cast manifolds from the factory + Drag kits for hondas now come with cast manifolds. It's a nessary evil when you have an SR20 tho.

Depends on what it is made out off. Most of the cracking comes from the stress of holding the turbo up.

Stainless manifold this is before it was done. It's been on the car for 4 months. Driven everyday I think it's 65miles each way 5 days a week and beaten on the weekends.

Yes. Exactly.

I dont even understand how they can warn against them 'cracking' without any comparisons. All these manifolds out there use different materials, or steel...And MOST people i see on these boards buy the cheapest manifold they can find, therefor, not buying a high quality manifold...then they are going to tell people not to buy ' a tubular equal length ' manifold?

Im not saying its going to be the best for 'your' needs, or driving requirements, but for people to basically say 'its the luck of the draw' its kind of rediculous.

thanks for all the information, i still dont know what i should do. should i keep the tubular manifold or get my stock cast iron sr manifold ported and polish? its a hard decision cause i want to keep the tubular manifold but i dont want to have to keep on taking it out to re-weld it. thanks for your guys input

Try it, if you have a problem with it you can ALWAYS swap back to the old stock one...

I threw a cheap ebay ss manifold on with my turbo upgrade, I expect it to crack eventually. They are so much lighter than an HKS ss manifold.

Anyone else have a loud buzzing vibration at 4000 rpm using one of these manifolds? It is so annoying (I like 4000 rpm.....) I am probably going to take it off and go back to stock or the HK$ one.

Didn't pampadori, or someone else buy a 900 dollar JIC manifold and it cracked?

I don't know, I am just going to stick to my cast manifold. It works great, what with flowing exhaust gases into my turbine housing and all.

I have a 160 dollar one off ebay and it has worked perfect, no cracks, came with nice reinforced braces and all. I have had it on for about 4 months now, works awsome, no signs of cracks, just took if off to modify it to fit my T3/T4 E i just put on, no cracks or anything. Saves a lot of money compared to the rest, plus it was thick as crap, I dont see how it could crack except maybe on the welds, I drive the hell out of my truck too, everyday I race it , and I race it every other weekend at the track. SO in my opinion I would by another 160 dollar anyday.
