^ that was goin to b my point to my ? that i asked u.. get used to the power the car has now and then worry about alla tha rest of the goodies.... the z has alot more tourque than i expected and i used to drive a z31 with a load more power and still my 350 is good enough for the kind of driving i do.... if i were u id slow down a lil bit.... worry bout keeping the car in good condition and maintaining it well... then go for the big stuff.... if u rush it all, u will not b satisfied....

Do you have any idea how much money it takes to reliably build a turbo VQ? You are going to spend almost as much on building the motor and getting it installed as you would what you are planning on spending buying the car. I agree with watermelonwarrior. You are getting way ahead of yourself. Worry about getting the car first. Have you even driven a Z? I have read your other posts a Xd and a Dodge truck is nothing like driving a sports car.

Dont worry man i did the same thing. By now i thought my interior would be nothing but sparco and momo. Then I realized that i will spend $3200 on insurance this year and $3400 on gas. now the only thing im worried about is maintenance like brakes, oil, and tires....

Chill man save your money. Sonsters is right, get your z and learn how to drive it

Great that you are planning ahead. You won't ever find anyone who will have forged internals sitting around. If they do have them, they will be expensive.

A set of 6 Pauter rods are $1290.A set of 6 Pauter Titanium rods is $5760.

A set of Arias Pistons will run you $1099

A set of Darton sleeves will run you $1045.

You're into it $3400 and that's not including the block, heads, crank, cams, ARP studs etc. You'll be into that engine well over $9k.

You can just buy it already done, and not have to hassle with anything, other than studding the head.

A VQ35 built by Cosworth will cost you $7599. You can choose 8.8:1 or 11.0:1 compression ratios. If you're going turbo, you'll want the 8.8:1

A set of Cosworth big valve heads will run you $4199.

i have plans of spliting my pay into 4 separate things gas,pocket-money,savings,car mods. so when the mods amount gets to be enough for what i want i will buy it and thx for the link for the full built set i will save that for the future and i will get a feel for the car because this will take me a few years to accomplish even if i did all forged parts right away it would still be a while till i turbo it. and i dont have to worry bout insurence as long as i am in school high school and into college my mom says as long as i stay in school and do well i dont have to worry bout insurance. so all i have to worry bout is my ell bill and gas and a few other things like my car maintaing

Don't buy parts because your going to have to send the motor out to be built. It's not likely a shop is going to be happy about you handing them a pile of parts and asking them to build you a motor. Also if you supply the parts when something brakes you have no one to complain to when it breaks.

Your best bet is to just buy a built motor from someone like GTM. They build all my motors. You can buy a fully built long block for $5800 with core exchange. There is no waiting. You pay for it and they send it to you. To build a motor usually takes 4-8 weeks.

http://gtmotorsports.com/produ...age=1

Labor to swap a motor is going to be $3000. So now your up to $8800. I'm sure your goign to want a turbo kit or what would be the point. Add another $5500 for a Greddy TT. That's $14,300 right there.

Add cams/springs/retainers... + $1800.

Add a UTEC ECU + $900 w/map sensor

Add a tune + $600

Add a clutch + $1000

Exhaust system..... $1100

Greddy wastegate relocation pipes.... $750

Koyo Radiator... $400

Boost control solenoid.... $100

TOTAL: $20,950 (without tax)

So don't be so fast to buy some parts. BUT I like your enthusiasm.....

You guys are so quick to judge . Let the kid do what ever he wants with his car...with the power and speed the 350 already has, throwing on a turbo won't be the borderline between safe and unsafe, fast and slow. However, i do agree that he shouldn't make plans or buy mods before you plan to and actually buy the car

I fully understand your excitement richie and its good you are researching a lot. I have had millions of plans for my car and researched billions of options, but it seems all i can do is make the payment, pay the insurance, and feed the beast - and maint. Maybe a few mods here and there but i haven't done anything extreme yet. My next step is a small shot of nitrous, and i don't even know if i can afford that yet - the dry kit i bought is not going to work out. I decided i didn't want to make it work, i want one that already works (via kit made specific for the Z).....

Anywho, if it were up to me, i would buy the turbo first then build later. You can always run 8psi while your saving up for your build and have 400whp. Better than building a motor for low compression then riding around a sled until you can get a turbo, or even worse - letting it set!

Your getting the Z soon, drive it - then talk about mods. Soon you'll go from i want a fully built turbo car -to- whats better a pop charger, or a K&N airfilter. LOL

U know R350Zz33 in the other thread you said you go through real world problems everyday. I promise you you have not seen anything if you can just divide your check into 4 parts: gas, happy money, savings, and car mods. Hell if I could do that I could drive a Ferrari and a Lamborghini. Paying taxes doesnt make you any more able to buy a Z than if you didnt. Look I am not raggin on you just trying to stop you from making bad investments that you will look back on and think "I could have saved the money" the mods you want wont be worth it after they are done and you will be sitting around for months and months waiting to be able to afford the mods. First before you keep spawning these wonderful threads please get your Z car FIRST, post your pic, tell us a couple of driving stories, and THEN after a year or so let us know what mods you want.Do the right thing, think about it.
