Hey guys I'm getting to finishing up my Z and put the engine back in with an extensive list of stuff done to it and one thing I wanted to do was install an Autometer mechanical oil temperature gauge to compliment the full flow oil cooler and I figured I would install it on the oil filter tree where either the outlet for the oil cooler is or the bigger bolt on the end of the tree just to the front of the oil cooler outlet.. I just need to know the size of the end bolt because I searched and searched and cant find the bolt or the thread size. I know the oil cooler feed is a thread size of M14x1.5 but not sure of the thread size of the other one. If anyone can direct me to where I could find this info that would be great.

Why would you put it there? I believe that bolt holds a spring and some sort of valve.

Why not get a 1/8" bspt tee and mount it off the oil pressure sensor? I did that with my oil temp gauge, works great.

It's a mechanical temp gauge so the sensing bulb on the end of the gauge requires a little bit of length. I'm running a full flow oil cooler set up so the spring and sliding valve is already removed. Just need to find the size of this bolt and no one can gimme an answer. I went to Home Depot, oreillys, and autozone and none of them have a size big enough that has that thread pattern for me to cross reference the bolt with. I hope that makes sense the way I explained it

Have you tried a industrial hydraulic shop? They may be able to help you out.

Do you still have to old bolt? You could measure the od and thread pitch to match one up.
