hi, i got a Infintii J30 with a jdm VG30DETT conversion installed i had a question about the speed sensor, are they different between the VG30DE and the TT? because it seems that its about 20mph over what it should be reading. i hear this could be because of the differential? is there any way to fix it? i hear the J30 is similar to a NA 300zx.

TIA!

Speed sensors are specific to the differential, not the engine. Well, actually, it's the pinion gear that's specific to the differential. The speed sensor is specific to the car's dash itself.

the j30 has a 3.90 rear gear and the TT 300zx has a 3.70. I dont know if the tt diff will bolt up because it is different than the 300zx na and the j30. The rear pinion interchanges and if you can not find a tt gear than you can use a 97 up q45 gear set (3.70). Good Luck!!!!

I believe the short snout R200 and short snout R230 share mouning points but I believe the driveshaft and output shafts differ, so changinf the gear ont he speed sensor would be the way to go

The Z32 diff is a R230 unit and the J30 is a short nose R200. Best way is to pull out your speed sensor on the transmission, and look at the color of the pinion gear. Mine is red for my gear ratio.

Here is a chart for Nissan pinions... I wish I had part numbers for the pinions but your local dealer should be able to help you find the pinion.

Yellow 16 Tooth 3.364.1Black, 17 Tooth 3.545.1Blue 18 Tooth 3.70:1White 19 Tooth 3.90:1Red 20 Tooth 4.11:1Purple 21 Tooth 4.38:1
