Been looking at getting another Z32, this time a TT..

Dont know much about turbo'd vehicles and all that.

My question is, if a single turbo is bad on the TT is it driveable, and if so how long?(and what are you jeopardizing by driving it with a bad turbo : if its even possible)

Also, how hard is it to replace a turbo?

ps.. not much of a mechanic havent changed much more than modules, spark plugs, etc.

hey man ill tell ya this unless your doing the work your self it can get pretty expensive... the motor willl have to be pulled to replace the turbo and i would suggest replacing both at the same time just to be safe..you dont want to spend the money to replace just one and then have to replace the other months down the road.. if the hot and cold side of the turbos are still good u can have the "chras" (center housing rotating assembly) replaced witch cost about 1000 for a pair.unless ur planing to install bigger turbos but if ur goin with stock this is ur best bet... well i hope everything works out for ya man

My first 300 had a bad turbo and I was able to drive it for a while until I could get it into a shop. You do loose a lot of power and won't be able to boost very high or even at all. The other turbo was still descent and would still spool with very little shaft play, however when one goes, the other isn't far behind. Get it fixed as soon as possible. Make sure when you are taking the motor out that you give yourself a descent amount of time, because when your in the engine bay with it out you will find things that you may not want or you want to change.

If you let the turbo go long enough that any metal shavings find their way into the cylinders bad things can happen, it can probably get bad enough that parts of the turbo fins enter the cylinder. Dont push it too long! They will start to make a noise I believe when its metal on metal contact from too much bearing play.
