Hi folks, Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on TSW wheels. They can be found on various tire/wheel sites, ebay too. I really like a set I found at:

http://www.discounttiredirect....06374

They might look a little ricey to some, but I really like the spoke pattern. They remind me of Sparco Racing wheels(far from them I'm sure)

They are 16x7, +40 offset, which as far as I know, is the most 'correct' for my daily-dvr S13(according to stock anyways). They are $155/ea, so I'd like to hear what they are comparable too: lower end like motegi, middle like rota, or will hold up well, like z5igen.

FYI, this is for a daily-driver, w/tien s-tech's and AGX's.

::edit:: I'm considering 205/55 for these. Would 215/50 be better? I prefer to see some rubber sidewall vs a stretch tire, but not so much that it looks like a slick. :-) ::edit::Thanks for reading!-Jamie

Well, seeing as it is for a daily driver, and given the suspension mods you mentioned, you'll be fine. We've had TSW wheels on a couple of the company vehicles here at my work, and they've held up fine to moderate use/abuse. (Some guys here are harder drivers than others..) Those wheels don't look to bad, the offset isn't the greatest, but like you said, they are for your commuter car.

Random history lesson: TSW stands for Terry Sheckter (sp?) Wheels. And yes, he's the son of Jodi Sheckter, the famed Formula 1 driver from back in the day.

Well, hope that helps.

cheers,

C

I'm guess if I said this was my drift machine w/D2's you would have a different opinion(for the intended use)?

I'm glad to hear someone has experiance with them. When you say 'hold up', do you mean not bending and such on bad streets?

Don't take this the wrong way, but why isn't the offset the greatest? I notice that stock alloys are a 'tad' sunked into the wheel well: would you decrease this offset to bring it outwards, or do you have other reasons for not liking the offset? I'm sorry but I guess I'm just nieve about these things: if the stocker's are +40, I assume that's the best replacement.

Thanks for the reply!

You'll be fine. We sell TSW at work for about ten years now and they build a good cast aluminum wheel.

well the stock offset is 40 yes but youre also increasing the width of the wheel youre using by an inch, so you should adjust accordingly...

for example, im using a 7.5 inch wide wheel, with a 22 offset, this will stick out an inch farther sure, but will also have almost the exact same strut clearance as stock...with a 7 inch wheel with a 40 offset, it will stick out .5 inch more than stock, but you will have .5 inch less of strut clearance. other than that just the look of it, but if you like it go right ahead, its your call either way

Oh I see: perhaps this is where I went wrong, because I thought stock S13 alloys were 7"... I used the online offset calculator, and of course it told me there would be no difference. I'm glad you caught this now. :-)

What's the most you'd let the wheel protrude outward for looks?

Thanks for clearing that up!-Jamie
