Tstat Questions

After reading about throttle bodys and how everyhting is directly affected by coolent temp. I have decided to change the tstat, it is right above the water pump right? also if the housing is corroded I should replace that as well? I called the local dealership and they have no record of ever replacing it =( so we will see what lurks inside

Just replaced mine. Easy access behind the plastic cover along the front of plenum. Right above water pump as you say. Mine was original, and while it functioned OK (in a saucepan!) the rubber seal was gone, so it did not close when cold. Yours will be in about the same condition. A little corrosion on the outside where hose connected, which I removed with emery cloth. You will need liquid gasket and maybe a new outlet hose.
