I went to the track a few months ago only to realize that my wheel hop was so bad at the track that I couldnt go WOT in 1st gear. Of course, it wasnt very bad on the street.

I had this problem before, with my stock suspension, I installed KYB AGX's and whiteline lowering springs.. It got a little better, and then I installed some Subframe bushing collars and RUCA's, and the wheel hop was gone.

I dont know where to look next...

Rear traction arms?Rear toe rods?Rear Lower control arms?Rear spindle bushings?

All of those maybe?

I could either buy one set of rear arms (toe/traction), or get a energy suspension bushing kit and do a GRIP of work until all the bushings are replaced...

Which bushings/arms would you look at first? I get under the car with a pry bar and try to find loose ones, but they all feel the same, and not very loose at all..

Thanks for the help..

-Max

You could try sub-frame busings. I have some wheel hop in my S14. Im installing the peak performance bushings in next weekend and i can let you know how that went.

Also you might want to look at your diff bushings. The rear bushings have to be put in with a press but the front ones take 10 minutes max.

I guess you didnt read my post. I already have aluminum subframe bushings, and the diff does not mount to the subframe with bushings on my s13, it is bolted directly. So, that doesnt make sense.

Bah my bad. i just kinda glanced over it. I was saying change the diff mounts cause mine were worn and the diff was bouncing around if i would launch the car. Hell my whole subframe is like that.

And yes, the diff is mounted to the subframe.

Okay, subframe is ruled out. Any other suggestions?

Probably a year ago. They do not leak, and my suspension is anything but bouncy. They are incredibly stiff, and respond as expected when I adjust the dampening.

does it do it constantly or only after a while of driving? my reason for asking is that my 86 300zx has the same problem except it will do it after a long period of driving and my suspension teacher at college said that it could be that my clutch was going and thats why it only happened after a long period of driving(due to heat). i dunno if that sounds right but i know my clutch hasn't ever been changed, and the car only has 60,000 miles on it, so maybe?

If you're prying and looking and not seeing anything gone bad then it might just be your suspension. I've never had wheel hop, either with stock suspension or coils. Your rear wheels should spin, not bounce up and down, gotta be the suspension. Did you drive your car the same way before you put in that stuff?

What motor mounts & transmission mounts are u running? If you've never replaced those, then that could be attributing to some of your hop... if you have new mounts... then I'm kinda lost, haha.

Next, I'd take out the rear suspension & verify that the kyb's aren't blown - mine didn't look blown when I had them either, until I removed the springs.

The rear arms shouldn't have much to do w/ your hopping issues.

it could possibly be your clutch. don't rule it out..

i have a welded diff. i hammer on my car alot and the past two weeks i'm noticing more hopping.

i know my winter suspention is starting to fail as well.

but one test to see if it's the clutch is hammer on it. when i shift and step on it i feel the motor bogg down just a bit then go up in rpm.

try it..

i'm putting in my exedy stage 2 and flydanza flywheel this weekend... should solve most of my problems.
