I have a 93 240sx fastback and am trying to paint the calipers but before I do I want to clean them up a bit, but need to take them off. I basically already have them almost off but I have the brake line left. I started to take it off and it leaked so I immediately put it back on :-/ pretty sure I wasnt doing it right, can anyone tell me how?

Uh, dude, you can't remove the caliper without leaking some brake fluid. You see, your brake system is a hydaulic system, and the brake lines are filled with...say it with me...brake fluid. If you disconnect the line, the brake fluid will leak out.

Sorry about the sarcastic tone, I was just trying to have a little fun.

Don't be scared of the brake lines, just disconnect that sucker, clean the caliper, and paint them. Be careful when you put your freshly painted calipers back on, because brake fluid will eat through paint very quickly if you get any on there. Once you reinstall the calipers, you will have to bleed the brake system to get all the air out of the lines. If you've never bled brakes before, don't be scared, just make sure you have a buddy with you, because it's a two man job. If you need to know how to bleed the brakes, just do a quick search online.

Good luck.

in addition, get new crush washers... or in nissan dealer parts counter speak: brake hose-to-caliper gaskets <wtf>

well, i guess u can torque that banjo bolt a little more if u r gonna reuse the old washers... But I won't take any chances w/ brakes.
