Trying to raise $1,000 for cancer research.

It's as basic as it seems. I'm trying to get people to donate small amounts of money ($1.00-$2.00). To help raise money, i'll be shaving my head and donating all money i make to a local cancer fund here.

After losing many relatives to the disease, i feel people need to help find a cure.

If anyone is interested, please let me know as i'll be setting up a PayPal account if i can get enough volunteers.

Well.....I always give to something like that if i see someone raising it around town or at the store. My uncle has cancer, lupus, and just diagnosed with emphazema this past month. I had lots of relatives die to cancer. My great aunt this past year died of cancer. Started with a tumor in her head and they shrunk it found one on her back and then it just took her once they done treatment on it.

But I dont care to give to it as long as it goes to that.

Yah, I already have people accusing me of trying to scam money, which is understandable.

I'm not really sure how i can prove i'm donating the money? Any ideas? I really want this to work, and if i get enough people i'll open up a paypal or something

well if i had pay pal i would help out.. tho i will say this.. last year the car club that im part of here put on a car show and raised over 3,000$ for kids with cancer.. i had a nabor (she was 8 or 9 years old) die from cancer.. so it kinda ment somthing to help out.. (i see where your coming from)

ive been talking a good friend to kemotharepy hes got brain cancer.and my inlaws both died from cancer and alot of my family.they wont let him work because of siesures.thats all.he really likes qs and my car.sometimes i throw him the keys and say get lost,just be carefull.i know i shouldnt because of the seisures.but it makes him happy.:icesangel

Oh when I use to go to church I gave a dollar just b/c my granny said so. I havent been to church in years. (I just dont want to go to church just reasons).

Sometimes we have the like the Shrines stand out and I give to them as well, cause it goes to children in hospital.

you should send out receipts to make it more official..

I always support cancer lottery.../ heart and stroke!(money goes towards good cause..and you have a chance of winning some nice cars)

Receipts will work! How can i do them? just make them on computer, or is there an actual website i can contact and get custom made ones? Keep the ideas coming, i want this to work.

This is entirely hypothetical....

But perhaps you could contact the March of Dimes (I think they are the organization that deals with childhood cancer) or another large cancer research organization and see if they will set up a donations account in your name. That way people can donate directly to them using your donation account and they can keep track of how much money you raised. I am willing to bet most big groups like that will be able to set up such a thing. If you get it to work I would be glad to contribute.

If you can get something set up, I'd donate a couple of bucks. I've had relatives and loved ones die of cancer too. Kind of makes me wish I could go back and get my master's, concentrating on oncology. It's tragic to see a life ended too soon.
