I have an older garage. I checked to see if there is a button that can be pushed on the garage motor but there's not. There's (2) dials but they can't be pushed in, just turned.

Anything around this?

Pretty sure the instructions say "IF there is a rolling code" etc. IOW, you shouldn't have any trouble if you are following the directions, because older garage doors will open and close after the first few steps. If the lights on the homelink indicate that there is a rolling code (by flashing a certain way instead of opening the garage door as indicated in the instructions), there is most likely a button you just haven't found. If there is no button, but there is a rolling code, then you probably have an odd duck and may be out of luck. However, in that scenario, I would search the net for instructions on programming anything to your particular garage door opener model since universal remotes that support rolling codes require a learn procedure, that particular part of the procedure may be able to replace the push the button step in the homelink instructions.

it's in the owner's manual. you can teach it the code from your existing remote. that's what i had to do for my old a** garage door.

I don't think I have any luck here. I got the "rolling code" but my garage motor does not have any buttons that can be pushed. Turned? Yes. Pushed? No.

It would be nice to have it programmed in the car though. I might just call Homelink directly to see if they can help.

My garage opener has the buttons but doesn't link up to my car. I was able to link it to my sisters house but mine doesn't work. I've tried linking my garage to my sisters JX, same problem. I'm assuming the garage opener is just too old lol

I suggest you go 'old school'. Clip one of the remotes that came with your garage door to the visor - job done.

Newer garage door opener have a technology that would require only newer cars for the Homelink to work.
In your case with an old garage door opener have you tried pushing the button in your car until the light flashes rapidly and then when it does have your remote next to it and push it without letting go of both. Then if the light in your car blinks different then that should work.
Also have you looked on top of the garage door motor to see if the Learn Button is there?

Yea, the learn button is not there. I followed the instructions the way it's written out. Got that "Rolling Code" and can't get passed it.

Steelcity, if you do have the remote mentioned above, you might be in luck. The user manual should give you good steps, but key thing is to have this remote VERY CLOSE (talking about an inch or 2) to the homelink buttons while programming it.
It worked for me, so good luck
