Ok i have a 1995 240sx with what is said to be a sr20 motor. How do i find out for sure which motor i have? Its a silver top with the oil cap on passenger side of vavle cover. The 2.4 is on the driver side of the valve cover that i have seen. Theres no turbo on the motor so im stumped on what i have and its hard to buy parts if u dont know what u have. So far all the parts that i have checked is the origanl 2.4 parts but there no setup right.(I mean that all the bolt holes dont line up. Mainly the power steering pump.)

You could Google image the motors and compare. You do have a KA24DE.

Nissan names their motors after displacement.
KA24DE has 24 in it. It is a 2.4L
SR20DET has 20 in it. It is a 2.0L
VQ35DE has 35 in it. It is a 3.5L

I could go on but I think you get the point. The first two letters are the motor family. KA, SR, VQ, RB.
The next two numbers are the displacement. ie above
The D stands for DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam). This means you have two cam shafts instead of one.
The E stands for ECCS (or electric fuel injection). This means you are fuel injected instead of carbureted.

another thing how common is the sr20de for parts. And what would it come out of cause the power steering pump has only one bolt that lines up

Wow I think everybody got caught off guard about you having a SR20DE. You can't boost it. Modifications would be needed. SR20DET ECU, harness, TPS, Coil Packs etc.

Some Sentra FWD parts will fit the RWD SR20DE/DET. There's a write up somewhere on the forums.

of course it can be boosted :slap: .... just strap a turbo on and give it a tune. cant promise good results but saying "you cant boost it" is extremely false.... but if you want it to run like a stock sr20det then you would need all those modifications and them some more that lobo240sx listed....

It can be boosted, but LOW boost. You've got to remember that's running 9.5:1 compression, which means tuning will be a pain on pump gas, even with everything from a DET, it will have too much timing and will knock.

Maybe if you bolted all the DET gear to it and added a water injection setup, you'd be alright, but I'd still be leery to run more than 7 psi.

Or E85 if you have it available. I have a CA18DET with 10.2:1 compression and have run as much as 18psi on a S15 SR T28 with out issues. I have an HKS T4 turbo kit on there now and have it street tuned to 15psi (waaayy more power than the T28 @ 18) and still no issues with knock or having to retard the timing.
