i ordered the compleat engine gasket and seal kit today, i got the one for the 88 pulsar 1.8. i assume this is the correct kit. and i was trying to get rod bearings and piston rings but im not sure what to ask for. can i use ca18de rod bearings from the pulsar, if so they said there are a couple choices and i need to know exactly what i need. finally what piston rings do i use on my stock pistons and stock bore?

Everything you need for your rebuild should be ordered from the 1988 pulsar to include the water pump, rod bearings, main bearings, and rings. And they should all be ordered in standard size..........

Does that include Pistons and Rods? I was under the impression the stock internals were forged?

use your stock pistons and rods... why would you have to replace them? I don't understand why everyone asks this!

Cast pistons, forged rods. The stock bottom end is good to 300hp, maybe more if your tuning skills are very good.

i wasnt talking about pistons and rods just piston RINGS and rod BEARINGS.. i found out today nissan discontinued the compleat gasket set. you have to get the head set the by whatever bottom end seals and gaskets you need seperatly. should i get the rings .005 over so i can file the gap to tighter specs?or just stick with standard like you said?

use standard size stuff unless you have honed your cylinders .005 larger than stock.

There's no point trying to stuff a larger than stock ring on there, factory rings fit properly, and you might damage stuff forcing the wrong size bearings/rings in there if it doesn't need it. Rings and bearings are all from a 1988 Pulsar SE with the CA18DE.
