after you remove your center concole/arm rest area (I'm guessing this is automatic), there should be 4 bolts around the shifter its self.

You gonna have to go underneath and disconnect the shift linkage that hooks up at the bottom of the shifter itself.

good luck.

why take the shifter out (i'm referring to the shifter that is in the centre console), you dont need to remove it at all..... you will need to unbolt the shifter line from under the car, on the passanger side (i believe that it is a 12mm or a 14 mm locking nut, remove that nut, and dont move the inner one, you will understand when you see it, if you move the inner one, you will need to readjust the shifter, lengthy process....)

He is right, i pulled both my engine and transmission out of the car a while ago and didn't have to touch a thing from inside the car.

you guys are right nothing had to be touched inside the car, i found out when i disconnected the linkage under the car, im use to manual trannys so you unbolt the shifter and it pulls right out, oh well though just a liitle more work for me

Good luck!

How was dropping a transmission in a J30 for you?

I've done a lot of MT but never touched an AT.

Wondering what I'm in for when replacing flywheel.

i actually pulled engine/transmission out, but it shouldnt be to difficult besides removing the exhaust and driveshaft, getting the transmission bolts is what going to be the difficult part
