I own a 2001 Nissan Elgrand E50 (APWE50). I have a flashing airbag light. I have downloaded NDS II on a Windows laptop and have a USB to OBD cable. I am able to connect to the main ECU under the ECM tab and read general fault codes (engine etc), although there are none currently.

There is an SRS tab in the app which when clicked give the option to connect. Unfortunately every time I try to connect (presumably with the SRS ECU) it fails to connect.

I assume that if the cable can connect to ECM and read data it should also work for SRS?

Looking for any info that might be helpful here.

If it's set up the same as Maxes and Alties from that time period, the Bag Brain talks to the DLC port on a separate set of comm lines from the ECM. Take a look at GI-40 here:

Without a scanner, there were always ways to get blinky codes out of all the older Bag Brains. Check out the restraint section for the '01 Max and see if it applies to your ride:
