I have looked everywhere on how to break in this engine....wondering if http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm is credible at all?? Could someone who knows about this look at this site and tell me whether or not to do this, or give me some suggestions on how to break my KA in?

thanks in advance!

I know for a fact he is right about at least one thing. Machining is getting so good now-a-days that clearances are smaller making for less "slop" in the internals of an engine. I can see how his theory is corect. I see it as a demonstration with sand paper. The faster the sand paper moves, the more materials that gets removed. It would conform the rings to the exact shape of the cylinder. Making for a more better, complete seal. I see you are going turbo. I would break-in the motor before I put the turbo on.

Thats what Im doing actually. I was planning on a couple thousand before boost. So what your saying is I should try it? I think this guy isnt full of $hit, but at the same time I have never heard of anyone doing it this way, so I am a little scared of trying it. I guess Ill try it and see what I get, the engine goes in this saturday.

You'll find as many myths and phantom fears about engine break-in as there are mechanics. Yet other than assembly or measurement mistakes, engine failure is very rare. These days, it really doesn't much matter. Drive it like you're going to be driving it.

Well I suppose the question would be what are you risking? My impression is you're risking the piston rings not seating right (and that's it?). If that is the case, you're risking a bunch of wrench time and getting a new set of piston rings.

Yeah, I guess I am risking my piston rings, no biggie.
