Ok

As you know I have a smoky Q, here are the symptoms

When you turn on the car a puff blue smoke then it calms down. As you drive you see some sporratic smoke. In traffic when you sit at the light and then pull off a blue smoke cloud. When you start moving no smoke but after a few traffic light stops smoke again.

I run 20-50 gtx with a bottle of stop leak/no smoke.

I notice more smoke when it is hot outside as opposed to cooler temps.

I want to know if switching to synthetic would help since it has better high temp properties.

Also is there a no-smoke/stop leak that is recommended by anyone to futher assist.

I understand none of this will get rid of the smoke. I just want to try to minimize the smoke if at all possible.

just thought I would bring this back up to see if I would get more replies this time.

By the way I am running 15-40 mobil 1 synthetic now with the mobil 1 filter and I do believe I have notice the famed lifter tick now. Only sometimes, but I think I will switch back to dino oil to see if there is a difference.

What you might want to try is Valvoline MAXLIFE. It has helped swell valve guide seals on GM engines that have smoked big time at startup. Many people reported total elimination of smoke at startup.

It also will condition other seals as well and if you have any other leaks they will close up. I have used this on one of my cars and my small leak did stop.

Give it a shot in a 10w30 with a 3k mile change. See if it helps after few thousand miles.
