So I took my 97 s14 (ka24de-t) to get tuned today with the greddy e-manage Utimate. The tuner messed with it for a couple of hours but could not get it to work right. He told me the stock ECU was fighting the e-manage or that the check engine light was on causing the ecu to go into safe mode, which was why it was not working.

Would the check engine light due to the auto ecu (5 speed swap) and the 2nd o2 sensor not being pluged in cause it not to work right? The e-manage is wired up correctly.. Any help?

I would try to make it as stock as possible to make the check engine light go out then try again, try to fix the O2 sensor. but the auto ecu should work , ive done it before on a S13

With the Ultimate, if it's wired up correctly, there should be no way for the ECU to fight the E-Manage as the E-Manage can take over all the fuel controls. A E-Manage Blue is more likely to see issues with the ECU and E-Manage not getting along.

Yes and yes. Your ECU will throw off codes if both O2 sensors are not present and it might do likewise if the speed sensor in the tans is not found.

Even in such a case, you are talking about mod'ing inputs, or creating your own outputs. In either case, it shouldn't create significant tuning restrictions. Did you ask if he was familiar with the Emanage interface?

ummm wow. well i said **** the greddy and went out and got jim wolf, But befor i did this i put the maf about 13inc away for the turbo, and guess what the greddy was fine but i had already got the jim wolf ecu. here is the thing, the tuner told me that the maf would be fine right next to the turbo, turns out her was wrong. i put it out 13in away for the turbo and it was FINE. SUCKS. so now im on jim w. with afc

on the flip side, had the car running for about 2 weeks after all that madness ,dyno 283rwhp 285tq@11 psi and the motor blew, now im fully built with ams kit.

thats what been going on with me
