I start my 89 240sx (coupe.. the only way to go!) and it runs fine.. (fine by its own definition of course) and I will drive a little bit and then pull to a stop sign and about to pull out on a left hand turn onto a main streat with lots of traffic. I coulda made the turn fine but instead of accelerating my gas petal just kind of felt soft and the cylinders ddint seam to be firing or maybe one was. I almost got side swiped because I couldnt move and then my egine died.

This has happened before but not at a critical intersection like this and it didnt cut off. The only thing I could think of is that either right at the moemnt I pressed the petal the one cylinde that misfires sometiems was in line to fire and missed, Or my pos. battery connector was loose and would shake around, but I shoulda been able to run off the alternator right? Well I got a new heavy duty battery connector, unlike that piece of crap thin brass one. it hasnt happened again yet, but its kinda a random thing so if anyone knows why this has been happening please help.

sounds like a timing problem to me. once the car is started, your battery is taken out of the equation. check the timing to make sure everything is ok.
