Just bought a 99 q45t, 162k mi. The check engine light is on and scanner reads code p0400 (EGR.) The tcs, abs and slip lights are on, hopefully just the relay (read a lot where ppl said i can try just giving the relay box a good whack). Lastly the power steering is leaking crazy and is said to be the return hose. The previous owner had 90% of the service records and it was mostly dealer serviced. Just wondering if anyone knows some good certified repair shops in my area. Im going to a local dealership in the morning to get a complete diagnostics and will probably go somewhere else just to get a second opinion to keep them honest. Thanks in advance p.s. i'm new to the car & the forum

Welcome to NICO. I have some family that live in Chapel Hill.. Not really important, but I think there's some others from around the area that might have a recommendation for you!! :)

Do you visit the Charlotte area? I've drove from Raleigh to Charlotte some years ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember how long it took to make the drive. The Charlotte dealer being close to the east coast parts warehouse (minimal freight expense) allows them to sell parts through their online site at an agressive discount. I understand the dealer is one of the first Infiniti dealers in the country with a large and loyal customer base. They've got to be making somebody happy for all those years to have a business that size today. I do know there are two guys in the parts department that have been with that Infiniti dealer since product launched in 1989.

Welcome fellow NC Q owner!

I live near Chapel Hill, work near RDU, but being as i do all my own work, unfortunately i don't know a "trusted" dealership for the Q cars. A friend of mine bought an M45 from Crossroads and it didn't seem like they really took care of him when his engine shat itself.... for the second time. Said they would be happy to replace it for $18k..... yeah eighteen-thousand dollars. Anyways...

I would recommend getting on the local forum here carolinanissans.com and ask the guys there. There's a bunch of great folks on that site as well, that have been helpful to me in the past, and now some of my best friends. Several of them work at surrounding shops and could point you to a trusted source.

Good luck on your adventure!

T-3 on Cobb I believe in Atlanta where Byron works.

There are very few technicians left in the country who understand these cars, maybe only 3 to 5.

That is why we have read every post by Q45tech and read all of his links, and a few others, studied FSM, and monitor any tech who works on the car. We have to know more about the VH than he does.
