trust cp ring gaps?

ive got 86.5mm pistons, should i trust cp's ring gaps??

do not trust them. I have the same set and I had to take about .009 off them. If you putting a motor together you should always check. Be safe and check them.

it's always best to check, I used the same set and mine needed minor attention. CP says that theres are within spec from the factory but I wouldn't rely it.

To put this in perspective, not all aftermarket companies gap their rings to factory. Mahle has their own gap spec that you determine based on inputting your bore size and and given application into a given equation. That then gives you the gap you need. It's then just a matter of grinding them down and installing.

so should i use the formula that comes with the cp ring set? street/hi performance? or turbo application? i guessing turbo but im not sure

Turbo app is always a good choice when you're putting pistons into a motor that uses a turbo.
