I cant get the trunk lid to stop rattling. I've sound dampened it with 2 layers, and it still rattles, even when my sub is on low power. What am I doing wrong? I took off the license plate, and yep its definitely the trunk lid that rattles.

Hmm. I don't get much rattle out of mine with two layers of sound deadener and an insanely powerful sub. Can you tell where the rattle is coming from? Did you check to make sure the trunk lid is securely fastened to the arms?

Is the rattle noticeable from inside the car, or only outside? Try putting some of your body weight on the outside of the trunk when the sub is running to see if you can deaden the rattle that way. You might need to tighten the trunk lid down by moving the latch further down (so the trunk closes tighter).

Thanks for replying. The lid rattles from the bottom (where it latches). So if I push the very bottom the trunk lid with one finger, the rattle is dramatically reduced. What do you mean when you say move the latch down? I didn't know it was adjustable. I think if the trunk closed tighter, it would definitely help. I also have 3 small holes on the inside border of the trunk lid (again near where it supposed to latch). It seems like there should be grommits there, do you have these holes as well?

Oh, and I can only hear the rattle when I am outside, not when I am inside the car.

I have a layer of Dynamat on my trunk lid and throughout the majority of the trunk, however on heavy bass my trunk still rattles more than I would like it to. How exactly do you go about moving the latch down to tighten the closure of the trunk lid? Thanks!

I haven't tried it on this car, but previous cars I've worked on just had one/two bolts securing the latch (on the body of the car, not the trunk lid). All I did was loosen the bolt and slight the latch down so the trunk would have to close slightly more (thus pinning it more tightly against the body to reduce vibrations). I'll have to take a closer look at my car and see if I can be of more assistance.
