trunk will not open for 1992 maxima?????

I have a 1992 maxima, my problem is when I push the trunk release in the car you can hear it pop but my trunk does not open, It seems like it is not fully disengaging?????? I have tried to push down on lid but nothing, I have even tried to pry lid open but nothing.....All I hear is the trunk pop but I can not open the trunk?????? Please what can I do???

Not sure about the '92 but if the seats lay down and you can "get back there" you should be able to open the trunk via the latch to see if you can fix it.

The trunk is a powered trunk by the way if that helps!!

There is still a flop-down on the latch just in case someone gets locked in.
