well my 90 Q has a strange develping problem, a few months ago i had melted a pin in the connection to the tail lamp sensor, then a few weeks ago i had melted a stop lamp socket, now this past weekend i had melted a pin in the connector to the fuel pump control unit, thank god theres a Q in the junkyard ive been stripping down latly or this would get expencive, now im running 2 12" subs off of a 1000W amp with a 500K capaciter grounded straight into the unibody, i dont know if its caused by my subs or if its something anyone else has seen, please give me your insight, every little opinion is well needed because im leaving for college and its a 12 hour drive in my car and i really really need it to not break down, please give me lots of help, thanks so much in advance.

Check the harness by the trunk on the drivers side. Sometimes the trunk arms can wear the harness causing it to short...

Common for replacement bulbs [old age] to melt sockets!Common from defective fuel pumps [old age] to melt FPCU and sockets.A 90 Q is 17+ years old every component should have been at least replaced once by now.

well i guess i have been doing good cause untill now all my comps and most everything was original, ill check the truck wires elwesso for the short, my friend who is an electrition said that it might be because my subs are putting so many un used amps into the ground when the subs arent on that it might be back feeding into the ground wires around it, he was much more technical of course. . thanks

Electronic engineers would never use the chassis a a ground return for high current amplifiers. A separate ground wire [equal in size to +] would be run to the battery.

If you analyse all the oem systems: note that T15[/B] is the single common point ground for all the rear harness connections....................creating another ground location can create ground loops that cause problems.
