Anyone out there have a problem when they try to open the trunk from the inside lever? Mine doesn't seem to open the latch.

It's because of bad struts. Eveyone's fixed it by replacing the struts.

is it moving the latch? if so then yea its the struts. if not then theres something wrong with the linkage.

Or someone at sometime has moved the release mechanism to 'valet' mode. If you look at the latch inside the trunk there is a piece that will slide up and down, when down it will not release with the lever, has to be in the 'up' position.

Also, grease the release mechanism inside the trunk. Mine didn't work right until I replaced the struts and greased it up.

My trunk will not pop open on its own when I pull the interieor lever, but if I pull on the lever and have someone pull on the trunk it will open.

That sounds like bad trunk struts to me ( at times i have to hold the trunk open too )

Where can i get these at and estimate on cost?

thanks for any help!

OEM sturut is $171.47 listed for each. Part numbers are:

R: K6658-6X001L: K6659-6X001

I love OEM parts, but this is just too much.

$35 bucks a piece at local Vatozone. Bring a screwdriver with you to pop them on easy and make sure they work.

Thanks for the correction. Courtesy Nissan catalog says it's no longer available, but I will see if I can buy them. I can't stand aftermarket ones because I have been replacing them every year. They don't last long.
