Trunk Release Issues - PLease Help

OK trunk does not pop up anymore.

I tweaked the mechanism a few mos. ago, and it worked a bit.

when i hit the release w/ trunk open i see the mechanism move

if i keep hitting the release it moves less and less , eventually not move anymore.

Seems like it is not strong enough to push the open latch ??????????????????

If tweaking the "flapper" doesn't work, you will probably need to replace the trunk release solenoid. Just seeing movement doesn't mean it works... I actually took the bad one apart and fixed it for a couple of cycles, but then it slipped again - so your description of it not being strong enough to work is absolutely correct.

Strangely enough, this part failed on Q2 at about 55K, while Q1's was going strong at 200K. Guess what got swapped before I sold Q1 after the wreck

funny i works all of a sudden. so lube wont help anything.

so is the solenoid the actuator/motor ??

is the solenoid expensive ??

The trunk actuator I have has the P/N on a sticker that faces the inside of the trunk. If you remove the lower trim piece covering the locking mechanism you will be able to read the P/N without having to unbolt and remove the actuator.

Anyone know if a 91 actuator works in a 95?

I was able to confirm that the P/N of the trunk lock actuator from a 91Q is the same as the actuator in my 94Q. Not sure about the 95Q but it's a safe bet that it's the same part for all 90-96 Q45's.

Yeah I dont see why they would change it. I bet on James' Q since his car has so many miles the cable just stretched a little.. Im pretty sure that thing has an electric motor attached to the release mechanism using a cable.

Just some dumb info from a newbie, but what the hell?

I've had my '90 Q for 8 years. The trunk release worked for approx. 3 years after I bought it, then stopped. I would just hear the 'click' but no 'click, chunk'. I didn't do anything to fix the release, just used my key when I needed to get into the trunk. Every now and again, I'd try it out of habit- still no dice. A year ago, just for ****s-n-giggles, I tried it. Now it works every time. Wtf.

I woulda started a new thread being my problem is a little different.. but WTH.. Topic says Trunk release issues!!

PROBLEM: And this is agitating the crap outta me, i could loose a whole bunch of music out of my trunk because of this. 1. Every once in a while, i push the button or pull (watever) and it sounds like it opened. I go back there.. and its not opened. Im like WTF, So i go back and pull the lever a few more times and voila.. i hear the different sound.

2. Bigger problem.. Every now and then i can go inside the house and 5 mins later.. my alarm is going off... MY DAM TRUNK IS OPEN?? WTF how that open.. ?? I close it and before i walk out of garage its back open.. Now im irritated.. Now its closed and 30 mins later it friggin opens.. It has no rhythm.. just opens whenever it wants to. 3. I have a Viper 700wx and its been coneected for maybe about 1.5 years or 2 .. im not sure. I think its 2 years. And i push the truck release button and my trunk wont open..

Question is this i known problem? or Is this just weird and just me... Cause if it is.. then its viper. And viper might have to go.!
