Anyone know how to open the trunk when both the dash switch and trunk release handle fail
to operate ????

Happened to my coupe once. Check for a red pull ribbon between the rear seats. Should be between the butt cushion and back cushion.

Can't see anything other than the glove box light unit - no lock out switch in sight.

Any other ideas where it could be located

Checked that method SVTCOBRA - unfortunately the hand pull all loose - does nothing... thanks

In my old G35 Users manual it is a black rocker switch described on page 3-26 on the left side. On my G37 the black rocker switch is on the right side.

The red pull ribbon allows you to drop the rear seat and gives you access to the trunk where you can pull the emergency pull thingie.
Should be tucked right in the middle of the rear seats....between the bottom and upper.

Well - I have located the ribbon thanks - the trouble is the that emergency handle doesn't operate - its all loose without any tension.
When I pull it to release the boot catch it feels as if the cable has snapped or is disengaged.

I was wondering where the switch for the boot catch is located ? Maybe its possible to bypass the wiring in the car and get power
to it independently ?

Am I just barking up the wrong tree ?

You could check your fuse.
But, when my trunk stopped working a year or so ago I found that the wires were cut in the rubber boot that goes from the car to the trunk. Bad design. Plus the wires were tiny.....So, I got Infiniti to splice and fix the wires as opposed to replacing the harness...much cheaper.
So, bottom line, you might want to call Infiniti if your fuse is good.

Thanks for your advice - I've check the fuses but they'll all ok.

Managed to partially remove part of the trunk lining so that I can maybe reach the lock and operate the
emergency release. Not a lot of room in there !

I did look at how the trunk liner was attached and was going to suggest that....but, knew it was tight. Might be your only option.

Yow, sounds like a weird issue where even the alternatives Infiniti put in are wholly inadequate.
