so ive now had this happen about 5 times since i got my coupe last friday. I either get into the car or start the car and the trunk opens for no reason. It usually only happens when i dont use the button on the side of the doorto open the car. But now its been happening much more frequently. Is it something I'm doing wrong, even though I don't see how, or is it a wiring issue?? Anyone else had this problem??

I've heard of this happening. Most of the time its the way the user is handling the key.

Where is the key when you are getting into the car? Describe when exactly the trunk is opening. When you sit down? As you get in? RIGHT when you start the car?

Put the inteli key in a seperate empty pocket and see if it still happens, if it does, grab your other key and leave the first one in the house, and try again. Basically i'm trying to see if its a key issue or maybe a car issue

ok so it happened once when my keys were in my pocket, and so the next day i made sure i kept my keys on my keyring and hook them onto my jeans. It still happened like this, and i made sure nothing was touching the keys. And also it has happened while opening the door (which happened today), its happened right when i started the car, and also right when i sat down. I thought that when i sat down it was maybe because the key was in my pocket, but now i dont think it was. any ideas??

Bad key fob. Go to your dealer and ask them to replace it.

I had the same problem when I wasn't even anywhere near the car. I'd go shopping and return to my car with the trunk open. Took it to the dealer and they reprogrammed the key. It's been about a month now and it's never happened since.

Hey mikey, the key just needed to be reprogrammed. After I had mine done, it never happened again. I was getting very worried because when I was away, it would open automatically. I'd come back to my car with the trunk open and I have a big amp and sub in there. Take it in to the dealership and tell them to reprogram your key, it's that simple. Good luck.

Hey Shift, all I did was switch keys from my backup and the one i was using and it stopped happening. I'm planning on going back in to the dealership and getting my key reprogrammed so that I have a useable replacement. The dealership was really nice about it when I called them, apparently its been a common problem. AND I don't believe its from being in the sun since when my trunk kept opening it was about 3 o'clock in the morning, don't even ask wat i was up to i hope this helps!!

Funny thing this thread came back up. I was just thinking about this today. It happened to me the 2 days in a row, and it hasn't happened to me since. I'm wondering, in my case, if i leaned on the keys while in my pocket (at work) and caused the trunk to pop but didn't notice until the vehicle was started and the warning was reported

I thought the same thing as you until one day I was standing next to my car talking with someone with key in hand, the POP!! The trunk opened by itself in front of my eyes when the FOB was dangling from my hand. I then went to check it out and the lock actuator kept on clicking over about 4-5 times. I then knew it was either a bad actuator or remote. Took it in and had the remote reprogrammed and haven't had that problem since.

If I were you, I'd still take it in to have it reprogrammed. The last thing you want is to have your car parked in the rain when you trunk decides to act up again.

I am having this problem also with a 2007 4 door - I had the problem both before and after getting the new KFOBS - I am really unhappy about this. I had my laptop in the trunk on one occasion and couldn't believe it was still there when I looked in my trunk. It has gotten worse since getting the new key fobs.

I am really unhappy about this.

Take it to get reprogrammed. It was happening to me a lot, but after the reprogramming, it never happened again.
