I cant figure out how to lock the trunk, and there isn't anything in the owners manual about it. I've been using my key to open it, then someone came up and just hit a button and it opened. I don't feel I can keep anything in the trunk now. Help!

if you have the inteli-key(don't need to put a key in the ignition to start the car)like I have, you have a small black button on the front door handles and one on the trunk, you only need to touch this button to unlock your doors or open your trunk, but YOU... have to have the key fob on you to do so.Someone without the fob can not unlock your doors, or open your trunk.

As a test, lock the car with the remote and then see if you can open open the trunk with the rubber button; it should not. It should only open if the all doors have been unlocked.

I looked at a 2009 diagram and it appears that you need the front doors locked and that will prevent the trunk from opening with the rubber button.
