Trunk latch doesn't work

I have a '95 s14 and my trunk latch doesn't work. I can't turn the key in the lock. I have to use the lever beside the seat to open the trunk. Does this require a seperate key or should the ignition key work? I checked in SEARCH, but couldn't find anything that answered my questions.

This may be a common thing, but mine does it too...just buy a JDM silvia lock/emblem set

no same key..try putting some graphite in the lock cyl and work it till it turns. if that doesent help get some rust penatrante with the straw attachment and spray a couple shots in there and try working it again.

Mine did that for the first year I owned it (99-00)... I wanted to disable the pull mechanism, but I couldnt get the key to work...

I took the trunk lock out and found tooth pick / match sticks in the lock disabling it from working....

Pop the trunk and also make sure the levers going from the lock arent suck / missaligned / or damaged...

me too... my inside one doesn't work... probibly a whack cable...

Tim... if you ahve a valet key it won't open the turnk

hmm... I can't open the trunk with my key either. or my passenger door. I always though it was 'cause my key was wore down.

Yup, my level inside only works if the car is on level ground. If I'm parked on an uphill or downhill it doesn't work? :confused

A valet key is one you can give to the valet parking driver, which I believe unlocks the doors and starts the car. But it won't unlock the trunk.
