Does anyone know how or where I can find instructions on how to reconnect the hinges on the trunk that keep it open? When I bought my J30 last week I realized whatever system that holds the trunk open wasn't connected and I haven't been able to figure out how to hook it back up. Any helpful hits, workarounds, diagrams, or instructions on how to install hydrolic pumps instead is greatly appreciated!

Had same problem. My body shop guy said it is the tensioner bars located in the trunk under the window deck that pop out. Have had fixed 2x and they just keep popping. Now use an extension pole to prop open and leave it in trunk when closed.

Was there something that needed to be replaced, or did he just "pop" them back in?

Also, I wonder if there's a way a hydrloic pump could be attached. Anyone?

This might be old new but I thought I might help somebody. I got J30 that the trunk wouldn’t work right. After looking at it for a while I found out that the contact points on the hinge for the spring rods seemed more oval than round. This extra room allowed the trunk to open beyond how the hinge was designed causing the problems. A quick and easy fix was to drill a hole in the hinge next to the rubber stopper where it meets the frame of the car. I then attached a bolt and adjusted it using several nuts. This limited how far the trunk opens and prevents the hinge from going beyond its designed limits. Hope it helps somebody.
