Ok so I have a 1990 240sx and that hood has been stuck shut for a while now. In the beginning, it slid back a little so that you had to hold the cable and open it simultaneously otherwise it wouldn't open. Then it got stuck shut where the key or the latch/cable won't open it.
I unbolted the top of the hatch thinking I could push it back up so I could open. No luck there, the trunk pistons / struts just shoved it so far back I couldn't bolt it back in place. I've been rebuilding the engine so I wasn't too worried about til now when the engine is almost completed.
Anyway, my question is, I can pull the top of the trunk open now, to get access to the trunk area (about a foot in the top cause the latch is so far back.) Can I pry off the pistons by lifting the top of the trunk open without shattering the window? Anyone else ever have this ridiculous problem and did it without shattering the hatch window? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: also I'm going to try and crawl back there and make sure the valet switch isn't tripped tomorrow, to double check it, I'm pretty sure it isn't tripped, but maybe the lock cylinder just doesn't work anymore before someone responds with that.
