The latest TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results have been posted. These are for the year ending June 30, 2007. Late responses could lead to further changes, but these are unlikely to be large.

For the 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan, I have an average of 3.8 months of data on 28 cars.

The stat of 90 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year (0.9 per vehicle) is worse than average for a 2007 model.

That said, nearly all reported repairs involved either detached sunroof trim or the passenger seat heater. Both are known issues covered by TSBs, and should not affect more recently produced cars. The repair rate will likely be much lower when results are next updated, in November. (Unless, of course, people only realize one of the seat heaters isn't working when cold weather returns.)

The results do not include recalls, warning light resets, or reflashes.

Results are posted with an asterisk for other model years, because the number of responses was between 15 and 24. In general, reliability seems about average for the G35.

Everyone who has been helping out with this research, thanks, I literally couldn't have done it without you. Those who aren't yet helping out, I hope you'll consider doing so.

Ehh, what about mechanical reliability?

I mean yeah you might have to take it in to get some trim pieces fixed but you can't really compair that to a ford where you need to take it to get a whole new engine!

Mechanical reliability is rarely an issue with any car these days. Fords are even looking good lately. I'm seeing the highest repair rates for out of warranty German cars.

Agreed, believe it or not the Big 3 have stepped up mechanical quality big time. Its just that from the past decade everyone still has it in their heads that they don't have the quality. Buick is tied with Lexus for #1 in reliability, followed by Cadillac, Mercury, Honda, and then Toyota.

Hah! say that to the powestroke diesel owners... The poor people who bought the last gen Nissan Sentra or ANY VW Owner..

Mecanical reliability is still a big issue with some cars. My point is if you group "trim repairs" with engine repairs then that is not a very effective way to compair cars.

With that being said..

G35s have problems with interior trim comming loose, and the seats breaking.

Also they have pretty darn soft paint.. my 20 year old mercedes diesel with 2x the miles has less paint chips then my 2003 G35.

I plan to eventually report major repairs separately. But the lower the frequency, the larger the sample you need to measure it. And for most cars such repairs are infrequent within the first five or so years of ownership. So this will have to wait until sample sizes are larger.

Get me a large enough sample size, and I'll provide all the info you can handle. In other words, tell your friends.
