Someone told me that the struts on a maxima are the same as the J30 from 90's through 95's model and that the price is much less. As most J30 owners know, you can't find struts for a J30 on a local auto part store, but parts for a maxima are easier to fine....

is this true, can anyone help???

I don't know for sure, but I doubt nissan would have used the same shocks for a luxury car and a run of the mill maxima. Be prepared to spend about 800 a shock.

The J doesn't share any suspension components with any other Nissan/Infiniti vehicle sold in North America. There is no aftermarket either. Its all Nissan OEM.

But does it share components with any other vehicle? The ball joints specs have to match something. It's economically unfeasible that Nissan would build ball joints for just one vehicle, and for only a few years of a factory run and not use them elsewhere.

If I remember correctly from a thread on this forum many years ago, the J30 ball joints are the same ones used in the same era R33 Skyline which wasn't sold in North America.

The struts are not the same. Order from the link provided by yodawill2000... about the best price you are going to find.
