Ive been searching for a few used parts that good ol' Nissan does not sell on their own, most importantly the LED turn signals in my side view mirrors. I contacted courtesyparts and also leesnissan to check prices for new parts and they do not have access to just the LED assembly, they can only sell me the ENTIRE mirror assembly because thats the only way they can get it from the OEM. Its $200+ for each side, Im obviously not paying that.

So then I searched for "online junkyard", "online salvage", etc. etc. you get the point. Pulled up a few dozen sites that are exactly the same. Plug in my year/make/model/part request, wait a few hours, then get bombarded by emails from various "junkyards" trying to sell me the same exact ENTIRE assembly NEW that I can buy from courtesyparts for less money, rather than just the little USED piece of the assembly I asked for.

Tried eBay, tried Craigslisp, tried Amazon, nothing.

So, where do you all go online for USED parts? There has to be something out there that is eluding me. Local salvage yards by me do not have what I need, I have no choice but to look nationwide.

You just don't have the right salvage yards near you..

Not every salvage yard can afford to purchase newer vehicles because you have to out bid all the rebuilders ( Rebuilders are people that buy the vehicles then fix them and resale).. I am assuming you need the mirror for your 08 Altima?

If so is the mirror heated or non heated and which side?

I am going to locate the mirror for you then give you some numbers to call. :bigthumb:

Correct, 2008 Altima Coupe 3.5SE, heated mirrors, both sides. BUT, I dont need the entire mirror. I only need the LED turn signal bar IN the mirror. Thats my rant, I keep getting quotes for the entire mirror when I only need the LED turn signal bar.

Yea haha well we like to sell mirrors complete unless its damaged.. Think about it if we had a complete mirror and we sell just the LEDs out of it now what do we have??? the answer is a mirror that is in pieces that we will have to convince the customer to put their LED inside of it... Basically if the mirror is no good neither is the LED strip.

What color is your car??

2008 is quite new to be trying to find pick parts for.

The minimum age for a vehicle to go into those kind of places is 8 years afaik...

^ Correct 08 is to new to have in a "U-pull it yard"

But full service yards are a completely different ball game.. Its uncommon not to find any late models in a full service yard. Naturally it depends on how long you have been in the game but you get the point.

What I meant is that the only place that would sell a piece of a unit like that is a pick-a-part joint.

Is my right your left? wut? :chuckle:

I would stick with the part-outs if it's that small and cheap, broham. There's got to be somebody who bought back their car...

Well see I can find him a complete mirror for 150-175 (depending on what the yard will charge him to ship it to him.) I may even be able to find the color he needs.

I am still waiting on him because I am going to list the phone numbers to where he can find the complete mirrors at a salvage yard.

I also found quite a few of them in NJ.

Metallic Dark Slate, Nissan code K50

I guess I figured this would be easier because I have done it in the past. My first car was a '96 Dodge Avenger that I bought in '99. I needed a few things for the interior and I was able to go to a "Pick a Part" near me and pluck whatever I wanted from a '96 Eclipse (same stuff believe it or not), and that was in 2001. I remember distinctly because I went a week earlier prior to my 18th bday. They wouldnt let me in. When I went back on my actual 18th bday they gave me everything I wanted for free.

Point being, if I was picking parts from a 1996 in 2001, why cant I pick parts from a 2008 in 2012?

The reason why you found the parts is because its a Chrysler... BIG difference Chryslers, Lincoln, Cady they all go cheappp way cheaper than Nissans Yota and Honda... Basically what I am saying is that what you can buy a wrecked ~2002 Lincoln LS for you couldn't buy a wrecked 2000 Accord ect.. **Both vehicles wrecked just as hard**

You got lucky. That's why. :gapteeth:

Also, that whole Dodge/Mitsu thing has plenty of those craptastic cars in the lot, so you're more likely to see those in there because of lower values IMO.

Grey...I guess? Its dark slate, not really grey, definitely not silver. Really dont care about the color at all though.

I guess I never really thought about it big picture like that, since the first time I was able to do this I was young and dumb and didnt see any hiccups in the process. I get it and understand, just wish it wasnt true. I want to go back to being young and dumb.

The part numbers for those mirrors are:
128-52937R
128-52938L

Thats the part numbers that salvage yards will be using for those particular pieces.

Haha! I guess I was trying to say that I though that if I could do this so easily when I was 18 and young and dumb, then I should be able to do it now just as easy on a straight mind. My past young aun dumb mind shadowed my current thought process and I neglected to think of all valid points noted above. Nevermind, bad analogy I guess. Too much Jesus Juice...

300ZX thanks for your help man, I will give those numbers a call.

Haha! 3.5 Gs of Young and Dumb spice to the head is quite enough for a day. I was a freaking space cadet until I turned 21...when I became an Atheist.

When you say you all, I assume you mean young and dumbers. Im not young and dumb anymore. I really did stop dumbing when I was 21. Im 29 now.

And all I know is when someone told me I was young and dumb I believed them because I could see that I was, much more than intelligent, which Im sure you can figure out I was not. I didnt make up the terms or names, I just lived them.
