can you put a nissan truck motor and transmission into a 240 sx. i heard the motor is the same, but wouldn't the transmission have diffrent gear ratios? and is it true you can take parts from the truck engine?

some parts are interchangable but some arent it also depends on the years of the 2 vehicles.

i already wrote this in another thread, but check this out: the 240 and p/u transmission's have the same case # (same part #), and the same gear ratios, 1-4. however, the fifth gear ratio in the 240 is longer, which is why that car goes 15mph faster with the same motor on the highway. the bolt patterns are the same, but i have heard something about a sensor, or maybe some kind of cylinder being on the wrong side (something that goes from the transmission into the block on the left side in the p/u, but on the right side in the 240) something like that. another question that the truck guys ask is if the 240 shifting mechanism is the same. they want to know this because they want to install the b&m short shifters in their trucks.

my bad i should clarify. the 240 transmission's i am referring to are the 89-91 240 ka24e 5 speed transmission and the 86-87 ka24e p/u. with the de, you're on your own.
