Basic bolts and remove lights and wiring and the gas filler neck. It is a pick up and lay on blocks deal with 4 guys or use a frame or something and use tie down straps and a come a long or jack system of some kind. Not hard just double check all mounting points before snatching the bed.

RT is correct. Six bolts is all it is - if its clear of rust they'll come right out. I recently replaced the bed on my D21. The front two parts are the hardest to get to - so if you have a long enough extension you should be set. It only took two of us to left it, maybe a third just in case. The bed isn't self is going to weigh a good 200-300lb. Don't forget to unplug taillights. There is a large plug close to the end of the actual frame before the bumper mounts - this will disconnect all electrics from the bed. Also, there are three phillipshead screws holding the gas filler neck to the bed.

As for putting it back on - it's pretty simple as long as you line up the bolt with the holes. Here are some pictures:

Hope I could help! Good luck

Yes I live in Cary, NC. Four Oaks is about 45 minutes away. What wiring did you have to redo? My truck is throwing an engine code and I think it has to do with the purge tank under the bed.

I found a 97 std bed in great shape to go on my 90 D21. I broke one of the bolts up near the cab and wondered if this bolt is a separate piece of hardware from the bed or part of it. Have to go back to remove the two rearmost nuts and she'll be free and clear. Mike/colorado
