Depends on what type of driving you do. Both are forced induction, but they work differently. I personally like S/C's because the power is on tap. An SC is belt driven so once the gas is pushed, power is there.

With a turbo, you're able to boost much more HP, but remember, the bigger the boost, the bigger the turbo lag. Turbo's are driven by exhaust gasses. The turbocharger's turbine must first spool up before it even begins to turn the compressor's impeller, thus creating turbo lag.

This debate could go on forever, with pros and cons to both, but it's all personal preference. Cost would be around the same for both, so I think the main thing would come down to driving styles. If you want big HP, then a turbo is the way to go. If you drive mostly in the city and want a daily driver, I think an SC is the way to go. Everyone has their own opinions on this matter.

I want driveability and reliability , and was thinking similar to you about HP gains . But more importantly I want my car to hold together ie drivtrain

An SC is probably for you, but, I honestly don't think you'll ever see one out for our cars. An SC would need a lot of clearance space on top of the motor, which the Altima doens't have.

This is my truck with an SC. It bulges out a few inches over the hood so unless you get a custom made hood, an SC won't fit. But then again, I think the Altima would look awesome with a bulge in the hood!

then again thats a screw supercharger right? A company like Ripp Modifications could possibly come out with one for our cars. Hell they make one for the 3.7 V6 Eclipse. With a supercharger however, because it runs on your cars belt system, its going to leach some horsepower off your engine. With a turbo its wasted exhaust that produces the boost so you dont loose anything there. Superchargers are usually more hearty also and not as "custom" as most turbo kits.

Don't do any of them, take the engine out and put in a chevy 350 in it, and watch it FLY!. Don't know if that would fit though.

I think so, I did one time see that configuration of SC for my maxima but I can't remember who made it , if I remember correctly it was a Vortech .
