Hello,

I just purchased a 2001.5 Pathfinder LE about a month ago. Got it looked over by the a local Nissan dealer before purchasing and they informed that there were no error codes stored. I was driving last week and the SES light popped on. Went to Autozone yesterday to get a diagnostic run and it came back with error codes P1145 and P1320. From snooping around the internet it seems like the fix to the P1145 is to replace either the drivers side cam sensor or solenoid. The fix for the P1320 seems to be new coils and plugs. My question is, could there be one fix that would solve both of these errors? It seems highly unlikely that two separate errors would occur at the same time and I'm hesitant to drop $1000 for new coils and plugs if just replacing the cam sensor will do the trick. Any feedback you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Swap the passenger's side sensor with the driver's side. If the problem moves to the passenger side, it's the sensor; otherwise it's the solenoid.

2001.5 Pathfinders had revised coil packs which should reduce the occurrence of P1320, but it's still a possibility of course. What is the manufacturing date of your Pathfinder? How many miles are on this Pathfinder?

Welcome to NICO.

Hey Town,

Thanks for your response. Manufacture date is 8/00. Just hit 100k mi. So in your opinion, could the P1145 fix resolve the P1320 error as well?

The P1145 should not be related to P1320.

If you could provide your VIN, I can confirm that you have a 2001.5. Going by manufacturing date when it's around 08/00 is kind of nebulous.

At 100k miles, you're almost due for spark plugs (the replacement interval is 105k miles). If there's an Advance Auto Parts near you, you can get 6 NGK PLFR5A-11 (6240 spark plugs for $40.54 before tax if you order online using discount code RETMENOT123 and pick-up in store. There's a great guide on spark plug replacement here.

I would not think that they would be related either. However it is odd that it would go from no codes stored and no SES light to both codes coming up at the same time, right? That's why I was thinking they must be related somehow. BTW, VIN ends in 570866, which is why I was under the impression this is a 2001.5, not a 2001.

I don't know the cutoff dates of VINs between .0 and .5 models.

I'd start out by replacing your spark plugs - hopefully that will resolve your P1320 code.

To solve P1145, swap the camshaft position sensors to figure out whether it's the sensor or solenoid. FWIW, my 2001.5 Pathfinder had both P1140 and P1145 (passenger & driver side) and replacing both sensors without any other troubleshooting solved the codes. This guide has details. I used two of these sensors. If you order from RockAuto, be sure to use a 5% discount code.
