Ok. I need to know what's going on with my turbos. Everyone I've had, has had minimal shaft play when I slap it on, and it blows about a month later. I'm on my 3rd T25 now, and I want to try and prevent this one from going boom so soon (it needs to last until winter storage time).

oh and btw - I've decided to keep the car, so this is why I'm asking for ideas here.

The T25's are internally wastegated at 7psi - I don't have a boost controller, so I'm not throwing crazy boost at it. The T25's have oil restrictor's on them, so I have that covered.

I refuse to believe I've had 3 turbos all with faulty wastegates.

I change my oil religiously, and am in the process of switching to full synthetic (doing synthetic blend for awhile to prep the engine for it).

I only use premium 93 octane gas.

I just bought a boost gauge to monitor what's going on with my boost.

My temp. gauge never goes over normal operating temp - so it's not overheating.

My manifold was warped, but I just got it freshly remachined.

Is there anything else you guys can think of that I should look into? I can't think of anything else that would be causing these turbos to fail on me that I haven't covered now.

Thanks in advance.

describe your oil-feed line setup. it's possible you're getting too much pressure and blowing your seals. I know it has an internal restrictor but humor me here

Seals aren't blowing, it's the shaft. I have no smoke nor oil leak when my turbo's blow...they just can't hold any boost/pressure and the shaft goes "ping ping ping" against the side.

My oil lines are from http://www.cheapturbo.com and I can't really explain them to you, as I bought the car with this stuff done to it. That's part of the problem..i just have whatever this guy did to it in my car, and I'll be upgrading everything this winter I hope so I'm not gonna bother with redoing all the lines to get rid of everything in 2 months.

The problem is 90% in your return oil line. Assuming you're using the right size pressure line. A used garret will run for about 200,000 miles before it totally craps the bed. So used isn't the problem.

Check for kinks or bends in the line. Check for a restriction of any type. My line got pinched between the motor mount and the WG and it was idling for 4-5 minutes like that. That alone was enough to smoke the aft oil seal.

Also, where is the oil return located on your pan? Is it above the oil level?

This just needs to hold me over until winter storage. I have BIG plans this winter, and all these small turbos will be of no use to me anymore.

They were all fine - minimal to no shaft play.

This last one I bought was inspected by an ASE certified mechanic at Nissan and he said it's in great condition...so I don't think that's the case.

I will have my mechanic check it out - and again, I don't know - I haven't looked at any of my lines to see what goes where, I guess I should have it inspected to see what's up and that it's hooked up properly - I would assume my mechanic would of looked at them all when installing my first 2 turbos, but who knows.

Would a warped manifold cause a turbo to blow? 'cuz my manifold was warped badly with the last two turbos that blew...now I have it freshly re-machined - maybe that could solve the problem?? (just wondering)

if you have a warped manifold, you would only have a exhuast leak and its before the turbo so it only delays your boost response but its not over spinning hte turbo to try to get the boost your looking for. is your compressor bypass/ blow off valve working right? i mean usually compressor surging would ruin the shaft like that.

Yes my BOV works perfectly.

How much boost are you running on this t25?

It's internally wastegated at 7psi, so that's all I'm running. I don't have a boost controller, just a boost gauge, so that's all I can throw at it.
