Before I list my problems let me introduce myself, my name is bryan i am a cop currently enlisted in the navy, . Im stationed in Naples Italy.

there now that we have that out of the way my problem is that i currently own a BEAutiful redline z33, i am shipping the car to my duty station and everything is set to do just that, my problem is that the gas over here in italy is rated at 91 only. There is one gas station that provides 100 octane gas but that is a long drive just to get gas. Ive heard that you can detune a car to allow the car to accept the lower octane gas. i do know that is may decrease performance. if there is anybody who currently owns a z in italy that may be able to help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bryan, Welcome to Nico!

I live in California and I have a 2007 350z I currently use 91 octane only with no problems. (that's the highest octane I can get) What octane rating are you currently running or was running in your Z?

Hi Bryan.

Are you sure OMV/ESSO/Q/TOTAL/etc. don't have 95/98 or 100 octane in Naples? I've been there a couple of times and always found at least 95.

The problem is that i dont speak full blood italian yet so i can only go by what is on the pumps and there is no sticker telling me otherwise, but i do know of a TOTAL gas station nearby that would make traveling really easy

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is a "redline" Z? Google hasn't been much help.

Cheif, it is the color of the car. So instead of Nissan just putting red they called it redline.

Ok, thanks! I thought it was a performance package or something that I hadn't heard of.

all cars sold in the us are to be require no higher than 91 octane the Z included, in KY we have 93 also but it's not necessary AND! I believe the european method of rating octane is different than ours so their 91 octane is actually higher octane than our 91 octane, much like their bhp rating vary form our sae hp
