i think what i am going to say will sound strange to every body i have an a31 with rb20 swap the problem is it does not sound like an rb20 i mean it sounds great but i dont know why it sounds different, when you take the car to 3 rpm engine makes loud sound like its sucking air then when you release the throttle it wont make a sound like a normal rb.i mean a normal rb20 would sound like chss but mine makes like chs s s s s s.i would not be worring if it was only the sound but my car overheats when i go above 100 on a freeway or when i switch on the ac, i was thinking if this sound is connected to it or something.my friend says it may b intercooler leak.

Please take a picture of your engine bay, and I might be able to diagnoss your ch s s s s s s s issue.

I'll do some resarch on the overheating, but most likely, it could be a water pump. RBs seem to be pretty notorious for going though water pumps.

Yes there is a bleeder on your engine. It's on the front part of the intake manifold. Here is a picture of it.

It's the part that has the red square around it.

Put your car so that the front end is up higher than the rest of the car, well at least that bleeder block.

It should be the bolt next to the yellow tag on the bleeder. Unscrew it and take out the bolt. Start your car and let it bleed itself out. Once you have coolant running out with no air bubbles, screw the bolt back in and you are bled out.

As for the turbo...does your cross pipe have a BOV/Recirc line like the one in my picture? A31/C33s didn't come stock with those. If not, the reason you are getting the ch s s s s s s is because of compressor surge. When at full boost, you let off the gas, there is nowhere for the excess pressure to go once the throttle body closes, so it goes back through the compressor.

If you do have a BOV/Recirc and it's an aftermarket BOV, maybe the spring tension is to tight and doesn't allow it to stay open all the way and it flutters.

The sound problem could be the intercooler leak or you have a leak somewhere else on your system between the turbo and the throttle body. Be sure to check all your hose clamp connections and also to check that your pipe connectors aren't cracked or split.

If you had water flowing out of there, then you were fine. You should not have done anything more...now you have air in your system. So, fill everything back up and do it again...*DO NOT* do anything else except loosen that bleeder and tighten it once you have coolant flowing with no bubbles.

Check your clutch fan. If you shut the engine off and the fan continues spinning, that is a bad sign. It should only spin for about .5 to 2 seconds max.

I had an issue with my 240 several years ago with the engine overheating. Replaced the water pump, radiator, thermostat and hoses...still over heated. Turned out it was my clutch fan was shot. Give that a try and see what happens.

Although, an engine overheating while you are driving, even with air going through the radiator leads me to believe it could be something else, but I am not sure.

Head over to the RB forum and see if they can help you out over there.
