After restoring my 1990 Nissan 300ZX, I replaced the original wheels with 18" -- since the tires were rubbing against the Inner Fender Liners, I simply removed them. Also noticed that the tires were rubbing against the Coolant Bottle (driver side) puncturing the bottle making it useless. After searching for other applications, I found that the Mazda Miata Coolant Bottle (90-97 models) made it an easy replacement and easy to install. If anyone has/had the same problem, this is the solution. Hope this was helpful...

oh sh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!t. what a timely post. i put on 18's last weekend. yesterday, i had severe loss of power, and steam started coming from behind the stereo console. i immediately drove it to the shop. hope nothing else is wrong now :/

i read 18s in the back and 17s in the front is the way to go, but it was too expensive for me. i should have asked about 18s in the front beforehand. <sigh>

Good info!

Also, another option to consider is relocating the reservoir up front or to another location on the car. I didn't do my for clearance issues (I have 17 up front and 18 in the rear) but to make things cleaner and more tidy. Here's a couple pictures of my setup....

The reservoir

Mounted up front

They're older pictures, from a couple years ago, but you get the idea

so my prob wasn't remotely related to coolant bottle, but i'm wondering...

I've got 225/40/18 in front now, and no rubbing. But I need new front tires and I'd like to be able to rotate them, so I want to put on 245/40/18 on. I'm afraid that's where I'll run into probs. Can anyone confirm or deny, before I buy?

thanks.
