I am having trouble with my left power window, my right one works, I'm not sure if it's just the left windows knob that's bad or if its some fuse problem? or something else. The right window's knobs works on both doors. Don't want to just jump into, I'll end up breaking apart my car.All help is appreciated.

what do you mean by knob? are you talking about the switch?

well the easiest is to look at the fuse to see if its blown. Next would be to take the door panel off and check to see if the relay is bad or the switch itself. It could be possible that both are good and you have a pinched wire from opening/closing the door and having a +15yr old car.

It's probably your power window amplifier, they commonly have solder connections break over many years of door slams - I was having the same problem and fixed mine just a couple months ago using this procedure, working like new since and cost me nothing but a little solder (or you can buy one on ebay for ~$30-40, new they are over $100.)

The way to see if that's the problem - with the door panel off, reconnect the switch then try pushing the connector into the amp while trying the window switch - when I did this it closed the broken solder joint and the window would work.

Thanks for all the help, I'm going to check it out and see how I can fix it, I checked the fuse box, but I can't seem to pin point exactly which fuse it is, I took one off and my right stopped working so I doubt it might be that, does one fuse work for both windows? maybe taking of the door panel will help.Yeah, I chose a poor choice of words, I meant the lil buttons that roll the windows up and down, only the left window's button doesn't work.Another thing, I just got my Catalytic converter changed, and I get this odd burning smell, I'm assuming it's just breaking in, but how long is it supposed to last? how would you describe the smell? Mainly when I get between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 I start getting that odd smell. Thanks for the help fella's.

Did you get the CAT welded? Because You'll usually smell something funky for about a day then it should go away.

For your window,

You need to pull your door panel off to access the amp on the driver's side (there are only a few screws and it pops off). I've done it so many times that I can get the panels off in a minute.

The left door (driver's side) has its own individual amp, while the right side has its amp inside the switch. The left amp looks like this:

Once you get the door panel off you'll see how easy it is to replace.

About 75% of the time this issue is solved by replacing the amp.

It's been about a week or so since I got the CAT changed, I still get that odd smell, maybe I should take it back and ask what the problem is before it persist and gets worst. Before I couldn't even pass a smog test, I'm not sure if it was welded I should have really looked into it when I got it changed, I'm not too inclined in the field of cars and repairs so I'm basicly going virgin on this car. Also, I was looking into getting a Sr20det swap later in the future($$$$$$)But along the way I heard it would be better to just get my KA 2.4L supercharged, and I will end up getting more HP out of it than an SR20DET and more TQ advantage I guess it's called the T25 setup? Only thing is KA is heavier, right? Like I said I know next to nothing so I'm learning all this and it's pretty much hearsay so it would help if you guys could Enlighten me.Thanks!,

My first tip, read. Just go through and read as many articles, builds, and write ups as you can before you start asking questions.

Try to make your own judgments and decisions on what you want to do to your car.

Also, just remember that the SR/RB/CA motors are illegal motors to have in your car in California (unless it is in a track only car).

Hey, where can I get the amp? any good websites? I tried all over in my area(L.A) and no luck, they just keep trying to sell me the Motor, does it have anything to do with the motor? is the amp inside the motor? I don't want to change the motor and then that not be the problem I needed fixed.
