Trouble with the AroundView Monitor

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello - I recently ran into a strange issue with my 2010 Infiniti EX35 and am hoping I can get some answers here. Please pardon any newbie mistakes with this post.

So the trouble started when one fine day the around view monitor stopped working. When I put the car in reverse - all I see is a black (or sometimes green) screen with the usual view selector tabs at the bottom. I can hear the beeping sounds (if I am close to any other car or pavement) meaning the Sonar function is working. Has anyone else ever run into this issue? Is there some sort of diagnostic I can run to figure out what's going on? I can post screenshots if that helps.

I haven't yet started looking at my warranty information - but do you guys think this would be something covered under warranty? I have 32K miles (<3 years) on the vehicle. I should have the standard warranty (whatever it is) - as I don't remember paying anything extra for any extended options at the time of purchase.

I'll greatly appreciate any help :).

Thanks
BL.

The 48 month warranty should cover it.

I bought a new 2011 in January and had it less than a week when this happened one night. The entire screen was blank and I could not bring up the monitor, map or audio info. When I shut off the car and restarted the problem went away. I was having some aceessories installed and reported it to the dealer, but of course they could not reproduce the blank screen. It has happened at least once more since then, but again restarting fixed it. I am afraid it betokens a problem which will worsen over time so I think I will start to document when it happens so I can keep the dealership informed. Does yours do this everytime you bring up the monitor, and does it also blank out the map and other screen functions?

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll be taking it to the dealer and see how it goes.
@meanie The issue that I have been seeing only applies to the around view monitor - which comes up when you either put the car in reverse or press the Camera button. I have the map and audio info working just fine. The only "new" thing I can recall having done in the past few days is connect to an iPhone as a Bluetooth audio device. Can't see how that could have mess up the around view monitor. For your problem, the best would be to take a photo when it happens - at least you will have a proof to show it to the dealer. It may be helpful in reproducing the issue at their end.

Good idea! Thanks. Hopefully it is too intermittent to be a serious concern, but a cell phone pix is worth a thousand word description.

My EX has done this a couple of times, usually when it is extremely hot inside, always comes back after restarting the car. My G37s did this a week or so ago, it was again extremely hot. Fortunately I was on the way to the dealership anyway when it happened. They are only a couple miles away so it didn't make any difference. I had only had it a week when it happened in my G. I made sure they saw it before shutting off the car, of course it came right back on when I restarted it. The Tech guy came and tried everything he could think of and couldn't get any response while it wasn't working. I hope this doesn't become an issue later after the warranties expire.
