OK WHAT ARE YOU USING TO MOUNT IT (STOCK X-MEMBER AND MOUNTS, MCKINNEYS, ETC.)? WHATS STUCK?

MY RECOMMENDATION (IF USING STOCK X-MEMBER AND MOUNTS):JACK THE CAR AS HIGH AS IT CAN GOREMOVE THE T/C ROD SUPPORT BRAKETSDROP THE ORIGINAL CROSSMEMBERSLIDE THE RB20 (W/ R32 X-MEMBER AND 240SX RACK ATTACHED) UNDER THE CAR INTO THE ENGINE BAYSLOWLY LOWER THE CAR ONTOP OF THE X-MEMBER AND JUST SLIGHTLY TO GET THE BOLT HOLES TO LINE UPLIFT THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY INTO PLACE AND BOLT INTO PLACE

THATS EXACTLY HOW WE DID IT.

I 100% agree with going from the bottom. I will never go from the top again (only did it once... and seporated the trans and motor). It was a nightmare. When I removed it I took it out of the bottom, and when we installed it in Hybridone's car it was from the bottom... with the trans on the motor.

From the bottom with R32 crossmember and transmission mounts attached? Or is it the 240sx transmission mount plate that is used?

With a precision slide, a good hoist, and a few bolts and your swap is in. There's still a lot of hosing and wiring crap to do. i hate hoses the most. 14 year old hoses piss me off.

I've heard you can use the stock trans mount with some form of spacer... I am personally going to make my own braket, but you could also use McKinney's or UH's mounts.

As far as installing it with the x-member attached and trans mount on... yes you will want to have them on the motor and trans.

Trans mount from the 32 and the 240 should be fairly similar if not identical if I remember correctly.

Yea ive tested out the trans placement, fits good. Still having problems with fitting the engine though. The engine is touching the firewall and the oil pan is pretty much in place, mounts are STILL 4 inches off. Im thinking im ganna have to buy sum custom mounts kus with the stock 240 mounts it isnt ganna work..or at least thats wut i can see.

ah, man! you need to get the R32 mounts! If you bought a RB20DET front clip, take the front crossmember out of the clip, it'll be a simple bolt in from there. Trust me, it took me 4 days of 6 hour days from removing the KA to test running the RB powered car. I put the motor/transmission in from the top. Just get a good engine crane and load leveler.

if you using our mount kit there should have been full detailed instruction on doing the the swap. We do it from the top with motor and trans together to save time..

It depends on what you still have... you don't have the rubber mounts (isolators) or you don't have the brackets that mount to the motor?

If you don't have the isolators... there is a Nissan truck mount that works with a little griding on the bottom (has a lip that gets in the way). I picked them up at advanced auto parts for $30 each. I got them b/c the ones that came on my clip were sheared in half.

Ok... just went out to the garage b/c I kept the box. The Pioneer Inc part number is 602866, and I got these at either advanced auto parts... I am 98% sure.

Hope this helps.

OK... lets kind of restart here. I am kind of lost on what we are working with.

What do you have? Are you using the R32 x-member? You do have the parts that bolt to the motor itself or you don't?

It's cool man... anytime.

Haha 0k, i got a 89 240 And trying to swap a RB20 in there. Got stock 240 engine mounts in currently. I know ima sound like a total Dumbass, but wut exactly is the crossmember? From my understanding its wut keeps the Trans in place. The engine is fully complete and i do have the part that actually bolts to the mounts.

The front crossmember is the thing that the eninge mounts are welded to. It is also the thing that your steering rack is bolted to, as well as the lower control arm thingys on your suspension. It is held to your car by 4 big *** bolts, 2 on each side. The R32 X member has the engine mounts in the location you need them in, which is about 6 inches forward of the sstock KA mounts.

sorry man! When I did the swap we had the clip and we stripped it bare. You could try and call an engine importer and see if they have any spares laying around, or your other option is to buy a mount kit.

http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com/sale.php

they sell a kit, but its like A$550 or something.

If you can go to the scrap yard that you took your front clup to, I am sure tehy wouldn't want much for you to pull the front crossmember out!

good luck

Keep in contact with me. My motor should be ready to be shipped in the next two weeks from overseas... I might be able to get you a X-member if you are interested.

If you can contact Mckinney's I think they posted recently they have some r32 cross members. They dont use them so they would most likely sell them. But I think they are in Vegas for Sema or what ever show is there this week.
