i recently converted my car from an automatic to a 5 speed...

i replaced only the driver side axle because the guy at the part store told me that the right passenger side is the same as the automatic

UNLESS it is a locking transmission...

i am assuming it is a non locking and i dont know how to determine the difference between the two...

i didnt replace the axle seals before installing the transmission and after i installed the right axle it leaked badly...

i removed and replaced the seal with a new one and reinstalled the axle...it didnt leak for about a day then i noticed a small amount of fluid which i wiped away with a rag and then it started to leak badly...

now i am not sure if its leaking because i have the wrong axle OR if the seal was damaged during installation...

if anyone can tell me how i can tell the difference between a non locking and locking transmission that would be great also if anyone knows if the automatic axle is the same for a manual axle on the passenger side only

thanks

anxiously waiting to drive new 5 speed and frustrated about axle leak chris

Do you have the transmission code from the transmission you installed? If you have that, it will be easy to tell. Also, a LSD transmission is a bit bigger than a non LSD.
