This is the problem I am currently driving a 1990 Maxima. The transmission is about to go so I am thinking of getting another maxima with few miles (I had 230K all original no rebuilds). -- I saw a 1990 240sx for sale for $1000 with 155K miles and a maxima for sale for $1100 with 170K miles.

I don't really care about the engine mileage because these engines have proven themselves worthy of my hands and that can also mean that I will be getting an import engine :D

I am chosing the 240sx area because I want to know what the car is like and I need some engine specs (FWD or RWD, HP at the wheels, 1/4 mile times stock, and car handling). I have tried to research these but came up with nothing. I'm also a newbie :help

Which car should I chose maxima or 240sx? Please post some good 240 pics if you can. Thanx.

it is rwd, has very good handling IMO, 1/4 et's - prob. in high 15, educated guess based on times of mildly modded cars.because it is rwd, it is easier to work on, no transmission stuffed under the engine. id go with 240look in the members rides for pics

Due to the fact that it is an RWD car I'm getting it. I always wanted a RWD to be a true ricer and to uhh do some uhhh illegal stuff at night that encourages the use of excessive speed. Due to the high 15's it'll be better than a mildly modded maxima. Once I get either the SR swap or bolt-on turbo I'll be doing a lot less. Oh yeah!!!

It's more a "lots of custom plumbing" and "squeezing in a big *** FMIC" type of job, but anyway, good luck with your new car. :)

I did search for like 1-1 1/2 hrs and all I kept getting was the 200sx/silvia specs. More indept questions like the drivetran and stuff like that I really didn't know where to start. I knew about the number of hp produced at the engine but how much goes to the wheels? That is what I wanted to find out. Not off the head estimates. Some other stuff I asked for where just for verification before I made a purchase.

Well this will be my summer project because I am a lifeguard doing 40+ hrs a week and making around $14/hr. That's about 400/week with taxes taken out and I have no bills. I saw a turbo for about 2 grand and I'll probably get down and dirty once I get the car. It might take a week or so to do it since I have a little bit of engine experience but I am 17 years old and my father will ship the car to South Carolina when I have to go to USC for college next school year. It's going to be parked at my aunts house and her boyfriend is a mechanic and he's going to help me If I'm having trouble.
