White is water vapor, black is fuel, and blue is oil. White is normal on cold days until completely heated up.
If the temperatures around you get down to freezing, I would have put 5w30 in. Does it seem like your battery might be a problem during initial startup? Using a small or old battery may not have the adequate cold cranking amps in it that you need. Meh, that could just be for start-up or until it gets a little warm though...
I've read poor oils can take up to 4 minutes to warm up and reach all of the valve-train in cold temperatures. The typical good (or synthetic) oil may be closer to 15-30 seconds.
