Hi,
I've recently encountered a problem with my hand brake. It wont lock up. Im curious to know what might be wrong.
Background story:I do a lot of drifting because I host monthly drift events at the track. It never bothered me before because I wasnt that good at drifting. As my skills got better, I figured that the e-brake is CRUCIAL for drifting when you are at an advance level.
My attempts at troubleshooting:First thing I did was trying to tighten the cable in the cabin. It was loose, so simply tightened up a bit. If I remember correctly, to test the hand brake, you need to be going about 10-15 mph in a straight light, put the car in neutral and pull the hand brake, and it SHOULD lock the wheels. For me, it just slowed my car down slowly.
Next thing I did was change the rear pads and rotors. Tried again. Still didnt lock up my rear wheels.
In fact, the only time that my rear wheels lock up is when I'm already drifting and the rear wheels have no traction. Makes sense right?
Possible solutions?Im thinking the calipers by be bad. I checked the rear cables for slack. The cables seemed fine. Do you guys think its my cables? Is there a way to tighten the rear cables? Or do I need to replace them?
Any input or help is much appreciated.
Thank you!
